Getting started

What devices and accounts do I need?

BabyMeter needs an iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 26.2 or later. You can log locally without iCloud and there is no BabyMeter account. Turn on iCloud to sync between your own devices or share with another caregiver. Android isn't supported.

How do I log something?

Open the Add tab and tap a card — bottle, nursing, sleep, diaper, and more. One tap logs instantly; open a card to add details or to log something that happened earlier.

I made a mistake — how do I undo it?

Swipe the row in the List or Day view to undo or edit it. Nothing is permanent, and nothing is ever deleted on your behalf.

Can I track more than one baby?

Yes — add another baby in Settings and switch between them at the top of the app. Each child keeps their own settings: which cards are shown, bottle sizes, sleep cutoffs and goals are all per-baby, so a newborn and a toddler don't have to be set up the same way.

Which types can I track?

Bottle, nursing, pumping, sleep, diapers, potty, solids, medications, temperature, growth measurements, activities (tummy time, baths, walks), mishaps (spit-ups, blowouts) and free-text notes. You choose which cards appear — anything you don't use can be hidden, per child.

Widgets, Siri & Live Activities

How do I add the Home Screen widget?

Touch and hold your Home Screen, tap , search “BabyMeter,” and add the widget. Home Screen widgets come in three sizes — small, medium and large — including the next nap, a compact day summary and a full day board. Separate Lock Screen widgets show the latest event or next sleep. Tapping one opens the app on the matching screen.

What can I say to Siri?

Every phrase starts with the app name. Some that work:

  • “BabyMeter, log a bottle” · “BabyMeter, log a 4 oz bottle”
  • “BabyMeter, start nursing on the left” · “BabyMeter, switch sides” · “BabyMeter, stop nursing”
  • “BabyMeter, start a nap” · “BabyMeter, she's awake”
  • “BabyMeter, log a wet diaper” · “BabyMeter, log a dirty diaper” · “BabyMeter, log pee in the potty”
  • “BabyMeter, log a pump” · “BabyMeter, log a meal” · “BabyMeter, log tummy time”
  • “BabyMeter, add a milestone” · “BabyMeter, add a note”

With more than one baby you can name them — “BabyMeter, log a bottle for Ada.” The full list, including your own babies' names, is in Settings → Siri. Every phrase is also a BabyMeter action in the Shortcuts app.

What's the Live Activity?

When a sleep, nursing or pump timer is running, BabyMeter shows it on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, counting up — with an estimate of when your baby is expected to wake. You can end the timer from there without unlocking.

A timer is running but I don't see the Lock Screen card.

iOS ends a Live Activity on its own after several hours, and can drop it under memory pressure. The timer itself is unaffected — it keeps running in the app, and the long-running-timer reminder is a normal notification, so it still arrives. Check that Live Activities are enabled for BabyMeter in the iOS Settings app.

Sleep predictions

Is sleep prediction a medical tool?

No. Predictions are windows typical for your baby's age, personalized by your baby's own logged sleep. They're an estimate to help you plan a day — not medical guidance, not a diagnosis, and not a safety monitor. Always trust your own judgment and your pediatrician.

When do predictions start?

At 8 weeks (corrected, if your baby was premature). Newborn sleep isn't predictable enough to be worth showing, so below that age the app says when predictions will begin rather than guessing. Sleep itself can be tracked from day one — that early history is what the predictions later learn from.

What's free, and what's the $9.99 unlock?

Windows typical for your baby's age are free forever — and you can edit every nap and bedtime by hand to match your actual day. The one-time $9.99 unlock personalizes them to your baby's own logged sleep, and adds window reminders and the pre-nap countdown on your Lock Screen. It comes with a 14-day free trial, starting when your baby reaches 8 weeks (using corrected age if they were premature).

What happens after the free trial?

It lapses to the free windows you already had — you're never worse off than someone who never tried it, and nothing you logged is locked away. Your hand-edited windows are kept. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.

What else the $9.99 unlock covers

Why do all my medications remind me at the same time?

On the free plan, medication reminders share one time for the whole family. That single daily nudge names everything still to give — so three medications is one notification, not three. Changing the time on any medication changes it for all of them, and the app says so on the screen where you set it.

The $9.99 unlock gives each medication its own reminder time, plus a reminder at every dose for medications given more than once a day.

This one isn't part of the free trial — the 14 days cover sleep predictions only. Medication reminder times are part of the purchase from the start.

How many caregivers can share a baby?

You and one other caregiver — a partner, or whoever you share the nights with — free, forever. A third caregiver and beyond (a grandparent, a nanny, a sitter, daycare) is part of the $9.99 unlock.

The limit applies when you send a new invitation. Nobody already sharing a baby is ever removed, whatever your purchase state.

This one isn't part of the free trial either — the 14 days cover sleep predictions only.

Does everyone in my family have to buy it?

No. One purchase, by anyone, unlocks the whole family — including caregivers signed in with their own Apple Account on their own phone. There is no per-device or per-person charge.

Do I lose anything if I never buy?

No. Every type keeps logging, your whole history stays, and widgets, Siri, Live Activities, growth charts, temperature, import, export and the visit report are all free. The unlock adds convenience — it never takes something away, and it never puts your own records behind a wall.

Pricing & purchases

Is BabyMeter a subscription?

No. Everything you need to track is free, and the only purchase is a one-time $9.99 unlock. Pay once, keep it forever — it never renews.

How do I restore a purchase on a new device?

Purchases are tied to your Apple Account. On a new device, open Settings → Premium → Restore purchase. It also restores on its own when you launch the app or accept a family invitation, so most people never need the button.

Medications, temperature & the visit report

How do medication reminders decide which days to ask?

By the medication's own schedule. A weekly, every-3-days or every-other-day medication is only counted — and only nudged about — on the days it's actually due, and the app anchors that on the last dose you logged rather than the day you created the schedule. A medication that isn't due today is neither “needed” nor “done”; it simply doesn't appear.

Does BabyMeter tell me what dose to give?

No, and it never will. BabyMeter records the dose you configured and reminds you about it. It doesn't recommend, calculate or default a dose for a medication — that's between you and your pediatrician or pharmacist.

What counts as a fever?

The app marks a reading of 38.0 °C / 100.4 °F or above as a fever, and always records how the temperature was taken (forehead, ear, oral, armpit or rectal) alongside it, because the method matters when you report it. That threshold is the only judgement the app applies to a reading — everything else is shown as the number you entered.

What is the visit report?

A two-page PDF for a well-child checkup, built from what you've logged — Settings → Data → Visit report. It summarizes feeding, sleep, diapers, growth and medications over a window you choose, and shows how many days actually have data rather than quietly averaging over gaps. It deliberately doesn't grade anything or calculate percentiles from home measurements; it's a summary to hand over, not an assessment.

Can I attach photos?

Yes — up to ten per note, from the camera or your library. They're useful for a rash, a milestone or a mess you want to show someone later. Photos live in your own iCloud with everything else, and the History filter can narrow to just the entries carrying one.

Corrected age, growth & measurements

Does BabyMeter adjust for prematurity?

Yes. Turn on “Premature” in your baby's settings and BabyMeter uses corrected age for the things development drives — sleep expectations, growth percentiles, milestones — while elapsed-time facts stay as they are. Your baby's displayed age is still their real age, because that's the number parents count.

What units and growth charts do you use?

Choose lb/kg, cm/in and °C/°F independently in Settings. Growth is plotted against WHO Child Growth Standards bands. A premature baby's earliest weigh-ins may not receive a percentile until their due date — the WHO charts are built from babies born at term, so scoring an earlier reading against them would read as a false low.

Why doesn't my home weight show a percentile?

Only measurements you mark as taken at the clinic are scored. A home scale and a clinic scale rarely agree closely enough to plot on the same curve, and a percentile that moves because of the scale is worse than no percentile at all.

Importing & exporting

Can I bring my history over from Huckleberry?

Yes.

  1. In Huckleberry, export your data — you'll get a file by email.
  2. Save it to your iPhone (Files, or straight from Mail).
  3. In BabyMeter, go to Settings → Data → Import and pick the file.

Feeds, sleep, diapers, pumping, solids and more map straight across with their original times, so you pick up where you left off instead of starting a new baby from scratch. Importing doesn't send anything to us — the file is read on your device.

How do I export my own data out of BabyMeter?

Settings → Data → Export writes your whole history to a CSV you keep. It uses the same format the importer reads, so it round-trips. Your data is always yours, and you never need our permission — or an internet connection — to take it.

Sharing with another caregiver

Can two people log to the same baby?

Yes — both of you log to one baby, everything syncs, and each entry shows who added it. Sharing between you and one other caregiver is free, forever; a third caregiver and beyond is part of the $9.99 unlock.

Can my partner join from an Android phone?

No. Sharing rides on iCloud, so every caregiver needs an iPhone or iPad signed in to iCloud. There is no BabyMeter for Android and no account system to work around it — if one of you is on Android, you won't be able to share a baby. We'd rather you knew that now than after a week of logging.

Troubleshooting

My data isn't syncing between devices.

BabyMeter syncs through iCloud. For your own devices, make sure both use the same Apple Account. For a shared family, each caregiver uses their own Apple Account and must accept the invitation. In either case, check that iCloud Drive is on and BabyMeter can use iCloud. Sync can take longer on a slow or constrained connection, including Low Data Mode.

I'm not getting notifications.

Check that notifications are allowed for BabyMeter in the iOS Settings app, and that the specific reminder is on in Settings → Notifications (window reminders and long-running-timer alerts are separate switches). A Focus mode or Scheduled Summary can also hold them back until later.

A timer has been running much longer than expected.

BabyMeter never ends an event for you — a timer left running is still your record to correct. Open the running card and end it, or edit the time afterwards. If a duration is implausibly long the app flags it and offers to fix it rather than quietly capping it.

Still stuck?

Email support@babymeter.app and we'll help. If something crashed, Settings → Send feedback attaches the technical details for us — and shows you exactly what it's sending first.
