Privacy Policy
BabyMeter is made by Joopa LLC ("Joopa," "we," "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the BabyMeter app, the babymeter.app website (including our support and policy pages), and any bug report or support message you send us.
Effective: August 9, 2026 · Last updated: September 4, 2026

The short version
- Your baby's records live on your device and, if iCloud is on, in your own private iCloud account — not on our servers.
- We don't run servers that collect your tracking records, and we have no account system that holds them.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, track you across other apps, or use your records to train AI.
- The only information we ever receive is what you deliberately send us in a support message or bug report, or in an automatic problem report you've switched on.
Who this applies to
BabyMeter is designed primarily for parents and caregivers, but we do not set a minimum age for using it. This policy covers the app, our website, and our support/bug-report process.
Information you enter (it stays in Apple's ecosystem)
You can log records such as:
- Feeding — bottle, nursing, and pumping
- Sleep and naps
- Diapers and potty
- Solids
- Medications and vitamins, temperature, and growth (weight, height, head)
- Tummy time, baths, and other activities; spit-ups, blowouts, and other mishaps
- Free-text notes, with optional photos
You also enter profile details: your baby's name or nickname, birth date, sex, photo, and whether they were born premature; and a name and photo for yourself (and, in a shared family, for other caregivers). Each entry also records which caregiver created or last changed it.
Where this lives:
- On your device, in the app's local database.
- If iCloud is turned on, it syncs through your own private iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit) so it appears on your other devices. It goes into your iCloud, not to us.
- If you use Family Sharing, the shared baby's records are stored in a shared iCloud database that you and the caregivers you invite can reach.
We do not operate our own servers that collect or store your routine tracking records. Apple stores and processes iCloud data under Apple's own terms and privacy policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/). Because your records live in your iCloud account on Apple's infrastructure, we generally cannot see them — but we don't claim we can never access anything, because anything you choose to send us in a bug report is different (see below).
Your baby's name and the app's quick actions are also added to your device's own Spotlight search index so you can search for them — that index stays on your device and is never sent to us. It is removed when you delete the baby or the app.
Caregivers you invite to a shared family can view, add, edit, export, and delete shared records, and changes sync to everyone in the family. You can stop sharing at any time — see Keeping and deleting your data.
Information we actually receive
In normal use we receive nothing. BabyMeter has no analytics, no advertising, no cross-app tracking, and no account with us. Nothing is sent while the app is working normally.
There are exactly two ways information reaches us, and both require you to say yes.
1. A bug report you write (Settings → Send feedback). Then we may receive:
- What you write — your description and questions
- Your email address, if you include it so we can reply
- If you leave "Include app info" on: a short technical and usage summary — things like your app and iOS version, your device model (the model type, like "iPhone16,2" — never your device's name), your language and region, which kinds of tracking you have switched on, your units, and coarse figures about your setup, including roughly how much you have logged and your baby's age in months
The app itself is the definitive list. Before you send anything, the sheet shows you that summary in full, filled in with your actual values, rendered from the very same data that gets sent — so what you see is what leaves your phone. It never includes your entries, your notes or photos, your baby's name or birth date, your location, or any device or account identifier.
2. An automatic problem report, but only if you turn it on. This covers two things: a crash, which iOS records and hands to the app on the next launch, and a serious internal error the app runs into while it is still working — for example an entry that failed to save. You would never see that second kind, which is exactly why it is worth reporting; it is sent the next time the app goes to the background.
We ask about this once, in plain words, only after an actual crash — and we show you the report first. If you say yes, that report and future ones are sent automatically, including the internal-error kind. If you say no, we never ask again and the report is deleted from your device. You can change your mind at any time in Settings → Privacy, which also deletes anything still waiting to send.
A report contains:
- What went wrong: the error and signal code, iOS's one-line reason, and the list of code locations the app was executing when it stopped
- The technical build identifiers of the app and system code involved (these are the same for every copy of that software version — they identify the build, not you or your device — and are what lets us match the report to the right version of our code)
- The same app-info summary described above
- A short trace of recent internal events (things like "a save failed" or "a timer was adopted"), recorded as fixed event names and counts
It does not contain your baby's name, birth date, photos, notes, entries, times, your email, or any device or account identifier. The app is built so that these cannot be included: the trace can only record from a fixed list of event names written into our source code, and it cannot carry free-form text at all.
We treat what you send as information that could identify you (a bug report can be tied to your email or support thread), not as anonymous data.
Why we use it
We use the information you send us only to:
- Run and sync the app (this happens on your device and in your iCloud, through Apple)
- Enable caregiver sharing
- Answer your support request and fix the bug you reported
- Keep the app and our systems secure and prevent abuse
- Comply with the law
We look at diagnostic or support content only to help you or fix the issue. We don't use your baby's records for anything else.
What we don't do
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for behavioral advertising, we do not use advertising SDKs or track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use your baby-tracking records to train artificial-intelligence models. We do not send your records to AI services.
Sending a report — your choices
Sending a bug report is always voluntary. Before you send one we show you what it contains, and you choose separately whether to include the app-info attachment and an email address. Please don't include information you don't need to.
Automatic problem reports are off until you turn them on. We ask once, only after an actual crash, and we show you the report we'd send. Declining is permanent — we won't ask again — and deletes the pending report from your device. If you accept and later change your mind, switch it off in Settings → Privacy; that also deletes anything still waiting to send.
We use a report only to fix the problem, and you can email legal@babymeter.app to ask us to delete what you sent.
Purchases
BabyMeter offers an optional one-time paid unlock. Apple handles the purchase entirely — we never receive your payment details, card number, or billing address, and we don't run a store of our own. What the app learns from Apple is simply whether this household has unlocked those features; that fact is stored with your own records, on your device and in your iCloud, like everything else you enter. It isn't sent to us.
Who else touches your data
- Apple (iCloud / CloudKit and the App Store) — stores and syncs your records in your own iCloud account and processes them under Apple's terms, and handles any purchase; this may occur on Apple infrastructure outside your state or country. Privacy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- Email — if you email us at legal@babymeter.app or support@babymeter.app, your message is routed by Cloudflare Email Routing and delivered to a Google (Gmail) inbox, so we can read and reply to it. Privacy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/ and https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Website host — babymeter.app is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, timestamp, and page requested) for security and operation. We use no analytics.
- Cloudflare — bug reports and problem reports are sent to a small service we run on Cloudflare, which forwards them to our issue tracker. Cloudflare sees the request (including your IP address, which we use only for rate limiting and do not store with your report). Privacy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/
- GitHub — a report becomes an issue in our private repository, readable only by the developer. Privacy: https://docs.github.com/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-general-privacy-statement
We don't use analytics SDKs, and we don't use a third-party crash-reporting SDK. Crash reports come from MetricKit, a feature built into iOS by Apple; we read only the crash information it provides and ignore the performance metrics it also offers. If any of this changes we'll list it here and in our App Store privacy labels.
Where we are
Joopa LLC operates from the United States. Anything you choose to send us is received and handled there, and by the providers listed above, which may process it in other countries. If you use BabyMeter from outside the United States, you understand that a report you send us travels there.
Keeping and deleting your data
- On your device: records are removed when you delete them in the app, or when you delete the app (the local copy).
- In iCloud: this is managed through your Apple ID. Deleting the app does not necessarily delete your iCloud copy — remove records in the app first, or manage them in your iCloud/Apple ID settings.
- Shared records: deleting your own copy doesn't remove other caregivers' access. To stop sharing, remove a caregiver or leave the family; the shared baby's records continue to exist for the remaining members.
- Export anytime: Settings → Data → Export writes your whole history to a file you keep.
- Support and problem reports: we keep these only as long as we need them to answer you, understand the problem, and confirm the fix is working — then we delete them. We may keep sanitized, non-identifying notes, with personal information removed, so a fix stays tracked. Email legal@babymeter.app to ask us to delete something you sent.
Security
Apple provides the underlying security for your device and iCloud. For anything you send us, we use reasonable safeguards and limit who can see it. No system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security. To report a suspected privacy or security issue, email legal@babymeter.app.
Health-related information
Your entries may include sensitive health-related information about your child. BabyMeter is a recordkeeping tool, not a healthcare provider, insurer, or medical device, and we are not acting as your doctor. It is not intended to provide HIPAA-regulated services, and we are not a HIPAA covered entity or business associate for your use of it. You decide what you enter and what you share.
Children
BabyMeter is designed primarily for parents and caregivers, but we do not set a minimum age for using it. Routine records stay on the user's device and in the user's own iCloud account; Joopa does not collect those records. If a child sends us personal information through a support message or bug report and you want it deleted, contact legal@babymeter.app.
Your rights and choices
You can access, correct, export, and delete your information directly in the app — it's under your control on your device and in your iCloud. You can withdraw bug-report consent simply by not sending a report, turn automatic problem reports off in Settings → Privacy, or ask us to delete something you already sent.
California residents: the categories of personal information we may collect are the support and diagnostic details listed above; the categories of third parties that may receive information are Apple, our email and website-host providers, and any others named above. We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We retain what you send us according to the criteria in Keeping and deleting your data. Because the app isn't a website that tracks you, we do not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals. Contact legal@babymeter.app to exercise any right. We are a very small operator and are likely below most statutory thresholds, but we honor these basics regardless.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We'll change the effective date and post the current version at babymeter.app, and we'll give meaningful notice of material changes.
